Gel Wax Candle Making

Homemade Gel candles are attractive, fun additions to your home decor. Gel candles are fairly quick and easy to make at home and don't require expensive equipment. There are a few points to keep in mind when considering making gel candles at home.

All that you may need:

- Gel wax
- Zinc core wicks (cotton wicks tend to absorb too much gel)
- Gel-compatible essential oils or fragrance, for scented gel candles
- Gel-compatible liquid color dye, for colored candles
- Container to heat and melt the gel wax
- Container in which you want to put your gelwax. A non-flammable, minimum 6 cm (2 - 2.5 inch) diameter, preferably glassware container. Glass is best as one can see the embedded objects
- Gel embeds such as sea shells or colorful beeds etc.(optional)
Steps to follow for the Gel wax Candle making

1. Melt small pieces of gel in the steel pot over medium heat while maintaining the temperature as close as possible to 200 degrees farenheit. This way the gel will turn into smooth syrup upon melting and will not burn. If possible melt the gel wax by the process of double boiling method.

2. Add the colour (only a little for embedded candles)

3. Add the fragrance depending on wether u  want heavy or light fragrance.

4. Place and set the wick in the glass.(make sure the wick is at the ryt place and will not move till the gel wax gets to semi solid state)

5. Arrange the embeds before poring the gel wax if u want the embeds at the bottom.Arrange them close to the walls for better looks.

6. Pour the melted gel carefully along the sides to avoid bubbles.(sometimes bubbles also add to its beauty depending on you choice of how u want it to be)
7. See that your is at the right position and let the candle cool.

8. You can pour half gel wax and let it cool later add some more Embeds if u want them to be in the middle and pour rest half after the 1st half gel is set.

9. You can add different layers of colours and make your candles more colourfull.(If you choose to have different colored layers see to it that the previous layer is completely set cool so that the colors wont mix up.)
